Updates: Fognini Takes First Set From Lajovic In Monte-Carlo Final

Fabio Fognini is just one set away from winning the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters after taking the first set from Serbian Dusan Lajovic 6-3. The Italian, like Lajovic, is trying to capture his first ATP Masters 1000 title.

Fognin, the first Italian finalist at Monte-Carlo since Corrado Barazzutti in 1977 (l. to Bjorn Borg), could become the lowest-seeded player to win here since 13th seed Gustavo Kuerten in 1999. Lajovic can become the first unseeded champion in the Principality since Thomas Muster in 1992.

Did You Know?
The winner will become the eighth player to win his first Masters 1000 title over the past 17 series events. In the 92 ATP Masters 1000 events prior to 2017 Rome, only eight players won their first Masters 1000 crown.
