Paire Lifts France To Early Lead Against Chile

Benoit Paire remained perfect against Nicolas Jarry, and France is one win away from clinching their opening ATP Cup tie against Chile on Saturday in Brisbane. France's No. 2 singles player saved nine of 11 break points to beat Jarry 6-7(3), 6-3, 6-3 and move to 3-0 against the 24-year-old Chilean.

Paire also navigated himself out of trouble late in the third set when, serving at 4-3, 40/40, he didn't let Jarry face a break point and held. Paire broke in the next game for the win.

Gael Monfils will face Cristian Garin in the second match of the tie.
