Ram/Salisbury Sweep Into US Open Third Round

Third seeds Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury struck 23 winners and won 31 of 36 first-service points to beat American brothers Christian Harrison and Ryan Harrison 6-2, 6-4 in 67 minutes. The American-British team, who have already qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals in November, captured the Australian Open title in January and are 13-3 on the 2020 season. They now play wild cards Christopher Eubanks and Mackenzie McDonald, who overcame Marcus Daniell and Philipp Oswald 7-6(5), 6-3.

Elsewhere, eighth seeds Wesley Koolhof and Nikola Mektic won 85 per cent of their first-service points to defeat Simone Bolelli and Maximo Gonzalez 6-4, 6-3 in 86 minutes. They now face John Peers and Michael Venus or Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen.
